A convenient and efficient method for oxidative coupling of tetrahydroisoquinoline derivatives with trimethyl(trifluoromethyl)silane and terminal alkynes to 1-trifluoromethylated or 1-alkynylated tetrahydroisoquinolines via CH activation was developed using visible light irradiation.
