The effect of Pt complexes on the growth of corn roots was studied. Two types of Pt complexes were used: (1) cis-[PtNH3LCl2], where L = DMSO, C2H4, acetonitrile, pyridine, and benzylamine, and (2) cis-[PtL2Cl2], where L = pyridine, acetonitrile, and benzylamine. The growth-inhibitory effects of all complexes were lower than that of cis-dichlorodiammine platinum [15663-27-1]. The only compound which showed distinct inhibition of mitosis was cis-[PtNH3(PhCH2NH2)Cl2] [79371-82-7]. The antimitotic activity of the Pt diamine complexes was apparently associated with the cis-diamine fragment of the mol.
